This app offers a comprehensive introduction to the various scripts of the Egyptian language, including Hieroglyphs, Hieratic, Demotic, Coptic, Old Nubian, and Meroitic. Each script reflects the evolution of written Egyptian over centuries.

The use of hieroglyphs for monumental inscriptions is well-documented, while the cursive form known as Hieratic, developed for practical writing, reveals a fascinating diversity in style among scribes. Over time, Hieratic evolved, leading to the emergence of Demotic, termed "the people's writing." In its final stages, Egyptian transitioned to the Coptic script, influenced significantly by Greek and adopted by Nubians who further developed it with elements from the ancient Meroitic writing system.
